Mirabelly vs meal-planning apps

Meal-planning apps hand you a menu and grade you on obedience. Mirabelly balances the basket, not the menu — there are no recipes to obey.

What each one asks of you

A meal plan asks you to Mirabelly asks you to
cook these seven dinners, in this order tell it who's at your table
follow someone else's recipe on a Tuesday night shop one list, grouped the way the store is
start over when Wednesday goes sideways cook however you like — it already adds up
buy what this week's recipes call for start from the staples you already buy
work through it meal by meal read one scorecard for everyone at the table
stick to it, every meal of the week keep your treats — ~90% planned on purpose, no guilt mechanics

When a meal-planning app is the better fit

If what you want is a menu — seven dinners, chosen for you, with the steps written out — a meal-planning app is the better tool, and we'd rather say so than pretend otherwise. Mirabelly doesn't write recipes and it won't tell you what to cook on Thursday; it plans the groceries and leaves the cooking to you. If that's the wrong trade for your household, take the menu — and if it's the right one, the method is written out in full on how Mirabelly works.

~90% is what we aim for, not a promise — the planned share moves week to week, and every list tells you the number it actually planned. This page compares Mirabelly with a category of apps, not with any particular one: we haven't run a head-to-head test, so we don't name products. Mirabelly is in invite-only beta.
